I recorded thousands of videos and live streams on Wirecast. Wirecast is good, it has a lot of great functionality. I hope this is useful for you if you are using Wirecast and you are thinking twice about it. I saw almost everyone I was watching streaming with OBS, and I said, “I’m using Wirecast.” This is a big switch from my live streaming setup that if you watched this far I’m guessing you care about. It just makes me think what else have I not done or am I forgetting about? It’s a little different in recording than Wirecast, but it’s amazing. That’s the key, you have to right-click “Interact” on it, and then you can log in, which is extremely helpful. You lost me as a Wirecast customer because the stupid browser wouldn’t sign in in the window when I do a web display.Īll you need to do is put in a browser alert, and then you right-click “Interact” on it.
If you tried to get the Facebook star alert in Wirecast, you couldn’t sign the browser inside Wirecast in.
For some reason in Wirecast, I don’t know if it doesn’t have it or if I just couldn’t find it, but I couldn’t find a way to interact with the browser. OBS has this really nice thing in it where you can actually interact inside the browser. You can just pop it up there and a nice sound comes up. You can easily just put a little thing to get your star alerts in on Facebook. If you are trying to live stream on Facebook it’s way better with OBS. The nicest thing on OBS you can do actually, I’m going to pull a second computer to demonstrate how this works for you. You really don’t want your stream to clip because it screws all the sound up for your stream. Technically it can still clip even if you put the compressor on at the highest settings, and you need to put a limiter on every single audio track because then the game can clip if there is any volume distortion or if the game gets loud the game can clip. In OBS there is no way to just stop the clipping and the compressor doesn’t go up high enough. I got the LoudMax plug-in and I put a limiter on with the “VST 2x” plug-in, because on Wirecast, you can just put a limiter on pretty easily. So, what I did, I went and got the “LoudMax” plug-in after googling a bunch of different options.
OBS doesn’t have a built-in limiter and one of the hardest things for me to figure out yesterday was how to get a limiter on OBS. One of the things that Wirecast does better, Wirecast has a built-in limiter. Some of the things I’ve figured out with OBS getting started are critical. I think several of my friends paid like $1,000 for Wirecast.
I’ve made a lot of great videos with Wirecast, but man OBS is so nice. If you find anything helpful in this video or funny, will you please leave a like because you will feel great helping other people find it?
